Minutes of Regular Meeting – July 2, 2006 Bloomington Normal Citizens for Peace and Justice Co-Chair Jan Cox called the meeting to order. Robert Braam from "Potluck Democracy" made a presentation requesting our support and donation for the Mosul Hospital Fund. It was suggested that we give them support on our web site as an endorsement of this peaceful organizing group. Individuals were encouraged to support the proposal if they choose. The North Shore Coalition for Peace and Justice is promoting awareness of the UN International Day of Peace of September 21 and encouraged all member organizations of the Illinois Peace and Justice coalition to sign pledges and join with them in their actions. Links to web sites to encourage such action will be posted on our web site. Carrol Cox moved and Ruth Gnagey seconded a motion to that effect. There was no objection voiced. The proposed meeting with Jamal Nassar as speaker is still not scheduled. We need a date in October, so Carrol Cox will check with Bob Broad about a meeting place and time. The Eyes Wide Open exhibit may be scheduled for late August or early September. The following people volunteered to help set up and/or guard the exhibit: Gary, Gregg, Ruth and Bill Gnagey, Roemarie, Sara, Rebecca, Barbara, Jack and Jeremy. Jan Cox will coordinate. The cost of the exhibit will be $250. We will determine when and how to pay for the exhibit after Jan gets more data. The BNCPJ Tee shirts are in and for sale at $10.00 each. We have 30 men's and 30 women's shirts. The Treasurer's report, given by Treasurer Gary Gletty, showed at balance of $730.03 after the tee shirt cost of $490.20 was deducted. After a discussion concerning dues' payment schedule, Carrol Cox asked for a plan from the board for adding dues payment to the by-laws. It was also suggested that we begin seeking 501 C3 status. August 6 is Hiroshima Day and it is also our regular meeting day. A committee was set up to plan a remembrance on that day. Ralph, Gary, Gregg and Rebecca will communicate with the group when the plans are complete. The meeting was adjourned at 5:23 pm.
