Minutes of the regular meeting of Bloomington Normal Citizens for Peace and Justice November 6, 2005   4:00 pm Unitarian Universalist Church Sixteen members attending Co-chair Jan Cox called the meeting to order and after introductions developed an agenda which included:  review of proposed board members and officers for the coming year, action items of "Leave My Child Alone", communication challenges within the organization and in the community,  peace festival planning,  treasurer’s report and programs for the next few months. Board members and officers approved by the group: Bridget Flynn, Ruth Gnagey, Rachel Hile-Broad and Rebecca Gearhart make up the slate of new board members.  They have all consented.  Joyce Key volunteered to attend board meetings and take over for Bridget Flynn when she graduates in December. Officers suggested for the coming year:  Bob Broad and Jan Cox as co-chairs; Treasurer, Gary Gletty; Secretary, Ruth Gnagey Ralph Dring moved that we elect the board and officers by acclamation.  It was seconded and passed. Action items which came out of the discussion of the military recruitment at local high schools:  Sue Soto will be the contact person for parents who need information and support.  She will work especially through PTA groups.   Ruth Gnagey will share information through churches and Gary Gletty will seek to coordinate with other organizations and agencies. Communication: Ann Gustafson reported the result of the billboard research and it was determined that this was more expense than we could incur. Action items which were a result of the discussion of communication and outreach:  Ralph Dring will work with Jan Cox to get an ad in the "Beyond Normal" flyer which is distributed at each movie showing.   Gary Gletty will research a GLT announcement for our meetings.  Jane Plum will continue to send announcements of our meetings to the Pantagraph. Rebecca Gearhart has developed a number of lesson plans to go with the Sadako and the Thousand Cranes book.  These will be put on our web site. The Peace Festival discussed for December 4 was discussed and it was determined to schedule it for February 5 to allow more time for planning and coordination. Action items for the Peace Festival:  Gary Gletty will develop songs of peace, Ruth Gnagey will develop a set of New Games for all ages,   and Ruth will contact the Hindu Sunday school which meets at the church at the same time and invite them to join us.  Rebecca will work with Ruth on a sense experience and she will contact a fellow who does a peace pipe program.  Ruth will invite a friend who helps children write poetry to come. Suggestions for December and January:  Winter Soldier and Zighem Aym discussing his book Still Moments.  Jan Cox will contact us about those programs.
