BNCPJ Meeting Minutes 05/01/2005  Agenda:  Introductions  Review and Planning for Upcoming Events  Announcements  Vic's Video on 09/11 Omissions and Distortions   Introductions -- Ralph Dring, Janice Nehrt, Deb Kane, Carrol Cox, Vic Connors, Mary Zeller, David McHone Chase, Gary Gletty, Gregg Brown, Evelyn Bertsche, and Jan Cox in attendance.  Remarks on Sustainability Fair presence:  Gregg reminded us that it was good to see a peace presence at the Fair and that opposition to the War in Iraq should be one of our chief focuses as no other group is taking that position.  Upcoming events that BNCPJ can participate in:  Ralph -- 60 year anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August. No New Nukes will help. Good book on topic "Barefoot Gen".  Mary -- Holocaust Memorial events going on now.  Gary -- Call for Justice 09/24 - 26 in Washington DC organized by uusc.org/stoptorture. Mary mentioned book by Tanner on Truth and Torture.  Evelyn -- Amnesty International events in November, sponsored by Mennonite Church Peace and Justice committee. Focus is the possibility of a Draft and other issues. Gerlof Homan is church contact at homan3@juno.com  Carrol talked about revitalizing letter writing committee and Tom Hayden's letter to Howard Dean.  Jan mentioned moveon.org teams as a model for organizing BNCPJ teams/committee.  Organizations to hook up with:  Macomb Peace group (Jan has contact)  Knoxville county peace group (David has contact)  Champaign group AWARE (need to develop contact)  Vic's video was a CSPAN presentation on the 09/11 Commission report by David Ray Griffin, an emeritus professor from the Claremont School of Theology who argues that the events of 09/11 were engineered and orchestrated by the Bush Administration and has written a book entitiled "9/11 Commission Report: Omissions and Distortions". . Lively and somewhat acrimonious debate followed.
